Project Ebenezer

Ebenezer church has been a historical landmark for our Paraguay mission center as it was the very first structure we built back in 1989.

After 35 years of service, hosting thousands of chapel worships for CPC’s students as well as hundreds of Sunday worship services for the community, the wear and tear had taken its toll. The collapsed roof, broken doors and windows, non-functioning bathrooms, and other structural damages now result in an unsafe area for use and it is currently only being use as a storage area.

During my most recent visit to Paraguay, I was heartbroken to see Ebenezer church filled with broken chairs and equipment instead of it being used as a holy place of worship.

After discussing this situation with CPC’s school administrators and missionary Pastor Cho, I realized that restoring this church building to its full functional capacity has been on their prayer list for the past few years. We could not visit Paraguay for 3 years due to Covid and I also learned that the mission school had to almost close down like so many other private schools had done, with enrollment dwindling down to 600 from 1000 during 2022.  Those were very difficult times, financially. 

Our goal is focused on not just restoring this church, but also adding technical amenities, such as modern audiovisual equipment and air conditioning so that seminars, PTA meetings, etc. can also be held here. All the while, preserving the original exterior walls including the bell tower.   We are praying that the Lord will move your heart to generously contribute any amount to accomplish this task which will cost approximately $97,000.  I personally have committed $30,000 to start this project and am asking for your help.  I also plan to gift my paintings according to your tax-deductible offering to Christ Central Southern California church who will be handling this project. 에베네셀 교회는 35년전 파라과이 선교센터에 세워진 첫 건물이자 몇천번의 학생들과 지역교회의

예배를 통해 선교사역의 중심이였습니다. 31년전 저희 가족찬양을 드렸던 그 예배당이 지금은 꺼진 지붕,

부서진 창문,망가진 화장실 등의 이유로 학생들의 안전을 위해 예배는 체육관에서 드리고 지금은 마음 아프게 그냥 창고로 쓰여지고 있습니다.

지난 코로나 사태로 재정적으로 어려워 폐교를 할 위기까지 처했지만 하나님의 은혜로 다시 회복되어

신생아를 돌보는 시설까지 설립하여 명실공의  6개월 아이부터 12학년까지 책임지는기독학교로 성장하게     되었습니다.   올해 저희학교 졸업생 중 한분이 이곳 국회의원으로 당선 되었다고 합니다.  이제 머지않아 추수할 날이 올것같습니다.

지난 8월에 손자들과 방문하였을때  교회건물 보수작업을 위하여 기도하는 선교사님과 학교 선생님들의

의견을 듣고 저도 동참하기로 했습니다.  한국에서 태어나 땅끝까지 ( 서울서 세상 제일 먼곳이 파라과이와 우루과이 국경이 만나는 곳 입니다)  증인이 되라는 사도행전 1:8 말씀을 실행할수 있게 되었습니다.

그래서 이번에 교회 보수를 하면서 역사적인 옛 모습은 보존하되 학교에 꼭 필요한 소강당 기능을 갖춘

(냉방, 음향, 영상시설등)  시공을 하려고하는데 드는 견적이 $97,000 으로 나왔습니다. 저희 가족이 3만불을 감당하고 나머지는 하나님께 맡기고 시작해보려는데 여러분의 성원이 필요합니다.
